Today begins the first week of the MHLS Building Your Base Online “10 Things” self-directed online learning program!
We’ll cover topics from online communities, RSS feeds, video/photo sharing, online surveys, downloading ebooks, and more! Each topic or “thing” will include an introduction, some tips and ideas about how the tools can be used in libraries, education and for personal use, and a short activity for you to complete. There will also be plenty of opportunity for you to connect with other colleagues around the region. All this without having to leave your desk!
We are so glad you’ve chosen to join us and hope you know we are here to help!
There are four moderators ready and waiting to assist you over the next ten weeks:
- Me! Rebekkah Smith Aldrich, MHLS Coordinator for Library Growth & Sustainability
- Merribeth Advocate, MHLS Outreach & Education Coordinator
- Kerstin Cruger, MHLS Marketing & Program Assistant
- Kristin Charles-Scaringi, Reference Librarian, Kingston Library (Kristin was a participant just like you the first time we offered this program in January 2012! So she has been where you are today!)
Start by reading through Thing 1: Learning Journals. Once you create your learning journal and log the URL on to the Learning Participants page we’ll send you a link to our learning journals so you can start following us and we can follow you so we’ll be in touch throughout the next ten weeks!
